What is the evidence of God’s love towards Man?
The reason God created man is love. This love was clearly manifested in the manner with which He treated man after He created him. The following is an evidence of His love :
1- God planted the Garden of Eden for man:
We read in the book of Genesis :
“ The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. ” ( Genesis 2 : 8-9 ).
It was also said that “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to tend and keep it.” (Genesis 2 : 15 ). It was out of God’s love towards man that He created the Garden of Eden for him and made every pleasant tree grow in it. He put Adam in the Garden to tend it and keep it.
2- God gave man authority over the creation:
God made Adam the head of the creation and its crown, so He brought all the animals and the birds to him to give them names as it is mentioned in the book of Genesis,
“ Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, it became its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.” (Genesis 2 : 19-20)
3- God created for Adam a helper comparable to him:
In the book of Genesis, “The Lord God said, ‘It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.’… And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”
(Genesis 2 : 18-24).
God, as the lover of mankind, did not want Adam to be alone, so he gave him Eve from his side and from his bones to be his helper and comparable to him. We should not neglect to emphasize that God created for Adam only one wife. Hence, marriage in Christianity is monogamous which was originally instituted by God himself.
Therefore, we can see that all God’s interactions with man is an evidence of His unlimited love towards man, for He is truly the Lover of mankind.
