Anger is an internal energy that can direct the person to perform a positive or negative action. The thing is not how to stop being angry; it is, rather, how to think positively to make good use of your anger.
What is it that leads a person to become angry? It could be people , family or colleagues; it could be certain circumstances, maybe the traffic. While those might be convincing and logical reasons , the truth is, anger usually grows inside us. It is something that exists internally. We are the ones responsible for it.
It is important to know the reason behind your anger. Anger is usually a result of a ‘wrong’ feeling that a person wants to hide , for example, jealousy, hatred, envy, or pride , in other words, not accepting oneself or conditions. It could also be the outcome of extreme tension or daily stress. If a person unintentionally hurts your feeling, you feel furious and angry.
Anger is like a piece of burning coal. The quicker it is put out, the safer it is. If it is left to burn without constriction, it could burn everything and there will be no end to its destruction. Similarly, anger, if left to grow inside us, can gradually form envy and lead to endless bitterness.
The famous Helen Keller was born blind, deaf, and dumb; she could have been the most envious and depressed person ever. But Helen was not like that. She totally accepted her condition. She was able to cope with her problems; she had perseverance. She did not envy others and never allowed bitterness to control her feelings. Instead, she lived till she was eighty years, filled with peace and true happiness.
In order to be able to redirect our anger, we have to accept ourselves and our conditions. If we feel that everyday duties are over burdening us , we can always cancel things off the list. We also must stop blaming others for our negative feelings and face the fact that this is mainly our own problem. Leaving ourselves to cherish negative feelings is like driving a car whose brakes do not work. The car would crash killing its drivers and whoever is in the way.
